Catholic community comes together for 9 days of prayer (June 7-16)

The Institute for Catholic Education (ICE) has extended an invitation to those involved in and those who care for Catholic Education in the province of Ontario to come together in prayer.

“Let us once again pray together for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Hearth of Jesus – a heart that overflows with love for each and every one of us.”

The Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, distributed this week to Catholic schools throughout Ontario, provides prayers for each of the nine days leading up to the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (June 16, 2023).

The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the celebration of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are part of our longstanding tradition in the Church.

“The hope is that schools, school boards, parishes and parents can join in this devotional prayer seeking the comfort, mercy, strength and love that is shown to us in the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,” said HWCDSB Chairperson Patrick J. Daly.

Recognizing the many complex and significant challenges present in today’s world, Daly added his prayers for students and staff across the system: “May we all find consolation in the love of Christ burning for us.”
