May is Vision Health Month – Week 3

Eye glasses can play a vital role in a child's overall health and development. Many children experience vision problems at an early age that can significantly impact their ability to learn, play, and interact with the world around them. This is why it's important for parents to recognize the signs of vision problems in their children and seek appropriate treatment, including the use of eye glasses if necessary.

One of the main benefits of eye glasses for children is that they can correct common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. When these issues go uncorrected, children may have difficulty seeing clearly both up close and at a distance, leading to eye strain, headaches, and difficulty concentrating in school. With the help of eye glasses, children can see more clearly, making it easier for them to learn and participate in activities.

Parents should have their child's vision checked regularly and seek appropriate treatment, including the use of eye glasses if necessary. By doing so, they can ensure that their child has the best chance for a bright and successful future.

Eye See… Eye Learn! Program

Available to children in Junior or Senior Kindergarten!

If required, Eye See…Eye Learn® will provide one pair of glasses per child courtesy of participating optometrists and corporate partners Essilor Vision Foundation Canada and Modern Optical Canada. The frames are fashionable and are made with high quality and impact resistant polycarbonate lenses. The estimated value of the glasses is over $300.

2023-24 School Year – Eye See…Eye Learn program begins July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, all children born in 2018 or 2019 are eligible.
